On July 18, 2009, 23 year-old Mallory Ervin, Miss Bowling Green, was crowned Miss Kentucky 2009. She
is the daughter of Lisa and Gary Ervin of Morganfield. Mallory is a graduate of Sewanee: The University of
the South with a degree in Theatre Arts. She plans to attend the graduate program at the University of Chicago Booth
School of Business before pursuing a career in entertainment.
Mallory's platform issue is Autism Awareness and she was recognized for her outstanding platform
work as the winner of the 2009 Heather French Henry Quality of Life Award. She won a Preliminary Talent Award at
the 2009 Miss Kentucky Pageant singing a modernized, powerful version of the song "On My Own" from Les Miserables.
Mallory has opened for the Charlie Daniels Band and sang the National Anthem for a NBA playoff game at age 11. She also
won a preliminary swimsuit award at the pageant.
As Miss Kentucky, Mallory serves as the spokesperson for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture's
"Kentucky Proud" program which encourages consumers of all ages to purchase products produced in Kentucky. She delivers this message
to all age groups in schools throughout the commonwealth.
Some interesting facts about Mallory is that she has studied at Oxford University and she
has skydived from the highest altitude possible, 15,000 feet!
